Dr. Aroua Ammar holds an Engineering Degree in Agronomy and Environment (2013) from the National Agronomic Institute of Tunisia. She received an Excellence Scholarship from the Mediterranean Office for Youth to pursue a Master’s Degree in Mediterranean and Tropical Horticulture (2014) at SupAgro Montpellier, France. She then completed a PhD in Plant Production and Biotechnologies (2020) from the Higher Institute of Agronomy of Chott Mariem, Tunisia. Her doctoral research focused on evaluating the ecophysiological behaviour of fig trees under abiotic stress.
Currently, she is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Sciences of Sfax, Tunisia, working on the PRIMA-funded CYCLOLIVE project, which promotes the recycling of olive oil extraction by-products into biochar and natural water-absorbent polymers to support sustainable agricultural practices in the Mediterranean region. She also contributes to several international research projects and has relevant experience in project management and international collaboration.
