Dr. Budour Alghamdi is a distinguished research leader and plant physiologist specializing in agricultural biotechnology and sustainable innovation. She earned her Ph.D. in Biological Science (Plant Physiology) from King Abdulaziz University with the highest honors, following a Master’s in Biotechnology from the University of Salford, UK, and a Master’s in Toxicology from Jeddah University. Her extensive research portfolio includes exploring the physiological and molecular mechanisms of salt stress tolerance in crops like Jojoba. Her scientific expertise is further demonstrated through high-impact publications and her role as an expert in coffee cultivation in Saudi Arabia.
Throughout her career, Dr. Alghamdi has held significant leadership positions, including Senior Specialist and Technical Manager at the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. She is a recipient of the MENAT Regenerative Agriculture Venture Program (RAVP) Award (2025), reflecting her commitment to environmental excellence and innovation.
Currently, Dr. Alghamdi serves as the Head of the Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Unit at the National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah). In this strategic role, she acts as a vital link between the center and the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority (RDIA), ensuring that research projects align with national standards and sustainability goals. In addition to her executive duties, she is an Advisory Committee Member at Princess Nourah University and a Board Member of the Afaq Khadra Association. Driven by a vision to bridge the gap between laboratory science and industrial application, Dr. Alghamdi continues to lead national initiatives that enhance food security and promote regenerative agricultural practices in the Kingdom.
