Hana is an Assistant Lecturer at the department of economics at the British University in Egypt, where she teaches environmental economics among other modules. 

She holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Sustainability from the University of Edinburgh and a degree in Integrative Nutrition from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, New York. Her master’s thesis focused on the political ecology and agro-resistance of farmers under occupation in the West Bank and Gaza.

Hana has worked as an environmental researcher at the American University in Cairo on projects related to climate resilience, urban agriculture and sustainable cities. She also worked in environmental consultancy in Egypt in several World Bank funded projects and as a sustainability advisor in Scotland, helping SMEs transition to more efficient natural resource management. 

Her research interests include regenerative systems, political ecology, sustainable livelihoods and agroecology in the middle eastern context.
